There is no denying that Liverpool has a very enticing and cosmopolitan atmosphere, with a good choice of accommodation being available between the Metropolitan cathedral and the actual city centre, on Mount Pleasant, and close to the Albert Docks. The city is famous all over the world for the being the birthplace of iconic pop group The Beatles, and is also home to both Liverpool and Everton football clubs. Do note that whenever there is a major soccer game at home, hotels are quick to completely fill up.
The same can be said during the third week every August, when crowds arrive in Liverpool for the annual Beatles convention and accommodation soon becomes scarce. If you are catching a ferry from the port, you may want to spend a night first in this famous city, to retrace the legacy of the city's musicians, at the Cavern Club.
Liverpool has plenty of good hotels on offer, although budget travellers and backpackers tend to prefer to stay at the main hostels, such as the YHA International on Tabley Street and the YMCA on Mount Pleasant. The Belvedere B&B is the next step up and remains one of the cheapest hotels near to the actual city centre.
Further accommodation includes the Travel Inn, located in the centre of the city; the Britannia Adelphi Hotel, with excellent business facilities and situated in the heart of Liverpool; and the luxurious 4 Diamond Thistle Liverpool Hotel. There are however many more scattered about the city. In the summer the city tends to attract more tourists and accommodation can be in demand.
